By summarizing they're kind of approaches based on GPS and (eventually DME/DME or VOR/dme area navigation position updating) the FMC of your B737 can then "build" a fictive glide path and loc path and it can be shown on your FD like an ILS based approach BUT your navigation performance must be into the limits required by RNAV/RNP approach chosen (usually 0,3 miles of circular probability error of position: that means that your ANP: Actual Navigation Performance that you can read on your ND must be BETTER or at least EQUAL to that required by the approach procedure) AND you can follow that procedure by autopilot and/ot manual by using LNAV/VNAV mode ONLY. To perform that you should, at least, know basics about RNAV/RNP approaches. Nowadays there is a RNAV (RNP) approach at rwy 26 LOWI.
